Get your hooks and needles ready!***

With the Holidays and all that surrounds them, we have decided to push back our get together night one week later...

Tuesday January 12th - 7pm
Sis. Allen's home

After the R.S. meeting in November (if you were not there, we talked about ways we can do service as a Relief Society) we thought that getting together and learning, or expanding our knowledge of crocheting and knitting would be a good idea.

We've asked some ladies from the ward to come and share with us their talents as well as bring some of the things they have made so that we can get to work!

Sis. Allen has graciously opened her home to us. Anyone and everyone is welcome.
***if you don't have hooks or needles or yarn, etc. come anyway, we'll have plenty there for everyone to use***

This is all I know for now - More details to come

Gingerbread Pancakes

Sound good to you?

Next Tuesday will be our next let's get together night.
We talked about doing gifts in a jar, right? Well, until we get a little more organized on how to communicate more effectively, this will have to do. I couldn't figure out how to best put together who would bring what ingredient and how many jars would we need...and most importantly...How many ladies would be coming.

We had a fantastic turn out last month! And a delightful time.

Let's do that again!

This time, Karen Thurston has welcomed us into her home.
Here's what we're doing. Gifts in a quart size ziplock. Sound weird, maybe. But its easier (and cheaper) than rounding up mason jars. Sarah Hawker found a delish gingerbread pancake recipe that can be put in a quart baggie. I will be providing cute Christmas bags to put our plastic bags in. And Sarah is making gingerbread cut outs that we can paste the recipe on to put with our gift bags.
What I need from you ladies is an idea of how many are coming. And how many gift bags you want to make. One recipe makes 10 to 12 pancakes. It can be doubled and still fit comfortably in the quart bag. And, are you willing to bring an ingredient for all to share. After I gather up that info, I will be able to divy out the other ingredients that we'll need.

Re-Cap
Next Tuesday, December 1st. Karen Thurston's home. 7pm
Gingerbread pancake mixes in quart ziplocks
Do you want to come? How many gifts would you like to make? Are you willing to divy up the ingredients so that we can all share the cost? i.e bag of flour, baking soda, salt, ground ginger, etc

Email me at zonazag@gmail.com ASAP so that we can get it put together.
Can't wait to see (and hear from) all of you!

Cheers
Jessica

Camera Q&A

Holidays are fast approaching!
If you're like me, you know how to click the button that takes the picture on your camera and that is it! All those other buttons and dials?? NO CLUE! Yet, I do know that they are there for a reason.

If you're like me and would like to know their purpose and how to use them...

***Come to Steve and Heidi's house Tuesday November 3rd at 7pm***

They will join forces to teach us the basic function and usage of all those dials and gadgets. (BTW, bring your own camera if you have specific questions and concerns that they will gladly try and answer.)

What should we eat?

Since this whole night is gearing for the Holidays, shouldn't the food be the same?
Bring your favorite Thanksgiving side dish (or treat) to share and the recipe. YUMMMMM

We'll hand out reminder flyers on Sunday.
Let's fill up their house!

Let us know...

We had a great turn out for our cooking group in June and want to continue with it.
We had many express that the day we choose wasn't so great.
We have added a poll on the left hand side for you to tell us what works for you.
We will try our very hardest to make it work for as many as we can but we know we are not going to be able to please everyone.
There is no way for anyone to see who voted how so don't feel picked on if your vote isn't what the group picks.

While we are on the topic...
who want's to host cooking group this month?
what should the theme be?
summer salads sound perfect for August.

Melting

HOT
days with no A/C

and my Husband in Germany the last 3 weeks
have caused my brain to MELT!

I apologize for the lack of play dates. But then again, I have also been told by some ladies that July isn't a good month...."maybe we should hold off until August."

So I guess that's how its turned out after all!

Hope everyone is managing the gross heat!
I'm off to eat more ICE

Absent

I will not be able to be at playgroup this week!

Which leaves me wondering what you girls would like to do. The Park again? The weather should be much more accommodating this week. Does someone want to host at their house instead?

Let me know what you think.

Sorry I can't be there!

**I really am absent! I posted this on my regular blog first! Ha Ha!**

GOOD GRIEF!

I totally spaced on posting this week's play group!

SO SORRY!

We have decided to host it here one more week. The plan is to play in the backyard. Play structure, dirt digging, tricycles, etc. And have a few snacks.
Now that school is out, it has been suggested that we continue to have playgroup, but to have it at various parks. That way the older kids that are out of school can came and have fun, too.

Change of plans

Due to little girl illness...Heidi's house is off limits for tomorrow. We're sad she'll miss her day to shine but we'll take it in stride and carry on!

Come to Jessica's house instead. With such short notice you might be better off keeping one eye closed - but I'll do my best to pull it together!

Re-cap:
Playgroup - Jessica's house 10-12 come and go. Original plan was water fun. Check the weather first to see if it will accommodate. If not, we'll stay inside and eat popcorn. YUM!

Recipe group - Jessica's house 7pm come and go. Bring a dessert to share along with copies of the recipe. If you don't have time to put together a dessert, please come anyway. If you can't come but want to share a recipe, let us know.

Now if you'll excuse me, I best be off to find my kitchen counters! ; )

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Survey says...

As soon as I figure out how to do it - I will put a poll on the sidebar so we can vote on the best day of the week to have our recipe group. Tuesdays, Thursdays, 1st week of the month, 3rd week, etc. We know that we can't please everyone or chose a day that will work for everyone but we'll try our best! We also would love to have opinions on other groups we could start. The more input we get - the more fun we'll have!

For those of you that have conflicts this Thursday night and can't make it to Heidi's...

Not to worry. You have options.

Have a recipe you want to share? Let us know in the comment section and we'll get in touch with you to make sure that your recipe is shared.
We'll post the recipes and pictures on here after the event so everyone can have access to them.

EVEN IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BAKE ANYTHING TO SHARE - COME ANYWAY!!!

See You There

Recipe Exchange!

Thursday June 4th - 7 p.m. - Heidi's house

We want to start a once a month recipe exchange. Where we will host a different food theme each month.
How does it work?

This month we will have a dessert theme. If you have a favorite dessert recipe that you like to make and want to share. Make it and bring it to Heidi's house (along with copies of the recipe to share) and we'll have the opportunity to taste each others treats and of course, talk and visit. Totally relaxed, no pressure and FUN!

If you don't have time to make the recipe before hand to share - bring copies of your recipe and COME ANYWAY! If you don't like to cook but like to taste treats and get together with great ladies - COME ANYWAY! We really want to make this a regular thing. Not only to help expand our recipe boxes, but for a way for us to get to know each other better and become friends in Relief Society!

For those of you who can't come, we will miss you. And for you, we will post the recipes and pictures on this blog for you to have.

We really hope to get as many ladies to come as possible. Please pass along this info - even if you have friends that you know would enjoy this but aren't in the ward (or members)...that's okay...bring them!

Thanks to Heidi for letting us use her house : )

See you on Thursday at 7!

Future recipe exchange ideas? Freezer meals, crockpot creations, side dishes, pastas, etc. Have an idea? Let us know! : )

Success!

Our Thursday morning playgroup once again was a success! We had 6 ladies and 11 children all gathered together at Heidi's house and everyone had a wonderful time.

This Thursday, we have decided to meet at Felida Park - 10am (or whenever you can make it.)

Join us and bring bikes, trikes, blankets and basket picnics. We look forward to seeing you there.

***still to come...details on our FIRST RECIPE EXCHANGE! On June 4th***

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Let's get this started!

At home on Thursday mornings with nothing to do (not counting laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc...) and want to come visit and let the kids play?
Don't have kids but still have nothing to do (see above) and want to visit and play?
Watching grandkids?
Taking a long lunch break?

Come join us on Thursday mornings at 10am.

This week we will be gathering at Heidi's house. Call Heidi for directions.

For Privacy purposes, we won't be posting any personal information on this blog. And we hope that you won't leave any personal info in the comment section. We want to be able to keep everyone informed and keep this blog and our gatherings safe! We'll let you know who's hosting and you can contact them. If you don't have contact info for them, let us know in the comment section and we'll contact you with the info you need!

* We will have a calendar available so others that wish to host playgroup can sign up to take a turn.
* Just because you choose to host does not mean we have to meet at your house. If the weather is cooperative, we could meet at a park...

***Stay tuned for info on our FIRST RECIPE EXCHANGE coming up on June 4th***
***Have an idea for a group that you'd like to have started? Let us know!***
